Latest Serie - Devotion - No.3

Inspiration
My inspiration comes from my admiration for stillness and devotion in a world that gets busier and busier. I want to create art where an intimate snapshot of exhalation is captured - A moment where time stood still. 

In a moment of peace and devotion, there is always a small glimpse of vulnerability visible. And To be vulnerable, strength is one of the key elements. This tension is something that lights up my creativity. 

Technique 

In this series, the works are made on hardwood where the wood has been treated in different types and layers of lacquer. Some parts have been sanded off for a faded effect. Other parts have been carved out to give the artwork more depth.

The wood and the queen are connected to each other. The wood can be seen in several places as a kind of skin. Some places have been treated with lacquer or oil paint. in other parts, it has been left pure and untouched.  The figure is painted with oil paint and metal leaf copper. 

This artwork includes a floating frame.
